Say sabaidee to our new blaogger, Alex Nok Phasy

LLOTP’s team just keeps on growing. Let’s welcome our new blaogger, Alex Nok Phasy (likes to pronounce it ‘phase-sy’ for extra effect). Coming from Shakopee, Minnesota, he’s our in-house designer of all things digital, photojournalist with an eye for community, and is a huge Lao culture fanatic. Alex is a second generation Lao American with a Bachelor’s in Political Science, Global Studies and Asian American studies. Did I mention he’s studied Lao, Hmong, Japanese, and Korean?! Who is Alex?  My best friend would describe me in these three words: funny, awkward, and a troll. The last Lao food I ate was sticky rice and thum mak hoong at the Lao Assistance Center of Minnesota.  If I was stranded on an island, the one Lao thing I would have is: a Lao sword because that would ensure my survival on the island… kidding, probably my Khaen given to me by Ajan Xai of the Lao Heritage Foundation. Love to write? Want to join a team worth being Lao’d for? LLOTP is looking for Lao contributors from …

We have voices yet we lack the place to actually voice them. LLOTP is your platform. As LLOTP launches it’s full .org website to drive the platform for voices from the Lao diaspora and Laos and as we’re approaching our 2nd anniversary this year, I’m looking for the passionate and the pissed off folks. You don’t have to claim or prove you’re a writer. I just want to hear your story and your experience in what bites at your head the most. Whether it’s about the latest dengue fever outbreak in Laos or how much you love making chicken laab with your ee mae, you name the topic you want to write. The best written pieces are always  the ones people are most passionate about. …
